Hope you enjoyed your holiday. I like the one taken with the Ixus and also the last one in your second post. Good to see different takes on the same scenery.

Where was it you went?

We went to Xlendi on the island of Gozo - it's a neighbour of Malta. We'd gone primarily to do our Advanced diving cert. Sadly I'm still not equipped for underwater photos which is a shame because I would have had some great opportunities

I'd like to visit Malta myself some day. My late father served there in the war so it would be good to see some of the places he saw.

Wow awesome colours there Jon........

How was the diving?  I was on Malta a few years ago, and it was a great Island.  Very laid back, and very warm!  Never did dive though  Rolling Eyes

Nice shot with the IXUS - proves that in the right hands they can pull out a decent piece of work.  Seeing a little halo on the right hand bit of land on the last HDR, but I wonder if its my monitor again  Confused

Can't wait to see more.... (please)  Very Happy

No you're not seeing things, there is a halo on it - was quite a tricky collection of images to merge as it happens, standalone photomatix made a right hash of it so this one was done in photoshop with the photomatix plugin but it was a difficult balance between the halo and keeping the detail in the sky

Diving was great - saw all sorts of stuff; a chuff-off great big moray eel, (ooooh) barracuda, big jellyfish, an ickle cuttlefish, sardines, tuna, bonitos and the usual crew of gozo/maltese fish like flying gurnards (they're ace), flounder, bass, wrasse, cardinals and damsels

dived a couple of new places which was great and also went back and finished with the blue hole which is one of the island's diving highlights

now we're advanced divers we can go a little deeper (30m) and we also got our basic nitrox cert as part of it too, so we can use enriched air up to 32% oxygen, which will hopefully be quite handy Smile
