I have, after much consideration, just treated my self to a new monitor. A Samsung Syncmaster T220. Beast!

Wow...That makes my monitor look like one of those really old tvs...you know with the wood finish and the remote controls so big you had to hit the buttons with a closed fist.

Is a spider necessary? And if so, how often do you need to use it. If only rarely then is it not the sort of thing that camera clubs could buy and then lend out to their members (for a fee obviously)

Lovely monitor!

Thanks Dave, it was long overdue. The Dell looks amazing, "3000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio" and I thought I was spoilt with 2000:1, but I am very happy. I've just adjusted the colour profile and it looks good on online tests and it is wonderful to have a big screen and 1680 x 1050 resolution.

I did have a problem when I connected it via the DVI cable. When I opened a picture in ThumbsPlus it had a yellow cast, but I resolved that by disabling the colour profile in TP. Quite why that happened I don't know but colour in ThumbsPlus now matches PSP and Photoshop, so all's well.

Because we just love being shafted mate. Why is Photoshop CS4 going to be £569.88 over here and $699 over yonder?

Care for me to purchase it for you?  You may have to fit a 3 pin plug on it though before use!  Laughing

That's really of you, but I wont be buying CS4, with or without a plug. I've just upgraded PSP PhotoX2 to X2 Ultimate and they've made some improvements I was waiting for and it's the nuts, basically.

Many thanks for the offer Gilly.

It's more to do with Adobe knowing that they can charge more here.

It is an offer well worth considering Gilly, for just about anything. I think it's partly VAT Shirley, we have so many hidden taxes it's hard to keep track, but through direct and indirect taxation we, in the UK, pay in excess of 58% of gross income on taxes. At least that was the figure some years ago, I've stopped trying to keep up, but it hasn't improved, quite the reverse.
