For some months now my main computer has had problems on the internet. It seems, from reading what it is trying to access on the status bar, to hang on loading adverts. My lap top which is wireless has no such problem and so I often swear loudly, abandon the desktop computer and access the internet from the laptop. That involves moving files across and aggro, so I am royally pi**ed off with the whole kit and caboodle.

Any advice/suggestions. Please......!

Hi Jon,

I use Firefox and have adblock, which I've had disabled for a while but that doesn't seem to make a difference, dephormation, Google toolbar for Firefox, Greasemonkey, only for the last couple of days, IE tab, pictens and English/British dictionary. The laptop has no add ons.

Yep, that's the problem I'm having I reckon, never thought about using IE, I'll give it a try, thanks.

I downloaded V3 as soon as it was available in the hopes that it might make a difference. I think I'll disable all add ons, should have done that long ago, and see what happens. Cheers Dave.

I've discovered that it was my anti-virus software that was causing the problem, which is curious because I am running the same software on all my computers.

I have installed AVG free and it's running perfectly.

I don't suppose that your previous AV software was Norton??? Was it??

As a fellow Flickr user I love the new Flock browser - powered by firefox and uses the GM add ons et.c

I wouldn't have Norton if they paid me, it was Virgins (my broadband provider) own anti-virus which did the job but was clunky and I should have got rid of it long ago. I have no idea why it made such hard work of flickr.

Thanks for the heads up on Flock, I'd never heard of it, though I am rather fond of Firefox, I'll have to check it out.

And thanks Dave, it's a relief because it's been months.

Wow, Flock is a helluva browser. I was initially, '....what is this?....', but it's very intuitive. I'm impressed, thanks Shirley.

It's my pleasure - I was the same as you and didn't download it for ages, but one day thought ahh what the heck, downloaded it and have never looked back.

Out of interest, having at last got to grips with greasemonkey, is there a Flock alternative that you know of Shirley?

I use greasemonkey on Flock too - haven't come across an alternative. Take a look at the Flickr Hacks group.
