Lovely capture, especially for a once a year event
The flower looks a little grey. When shooting in ambient light, I'd treat it like snow, and over-expose by a couple of stops to ensure the flower comes out pure white (assuming that is the correct colour). Cameras that have auto white balance systems try to balance to mid-grey, so when faced with a pure white subject, they force the white to look grey
Do you shoot raw mode? You can correct for this by increasing EV by 1.5 to 2 stops in your raw converter application, or it may be possible in photoshop or a similar tool to increase the white balance to make the flower white. _________________ see my photography at john.seelbinder.org
You did well to capture a once in a year event agree with Evo though if the flower is actually white it need over exposing by a stop or more to ensure it comes out white if it's not white then ignore what I just said _________________
have to admit it looks rather dark - but well captured.
Been trying to get one of a "mother in laws tongue for ages, had a chance a couple of years back, but ......... (oh OK - no flipping film in the camera. _________________ -----------------------------------------------------
the flower was an off white, but nowhere near as off white as my picture
i took it indoors not using RAW, and at roughly 9:30pm, so the artificial light was pretty crappy. I had to make do with a two legged tripod (third leg was bust), and the back of a chair for the third leg..........
will ensure i have a better set up for next years event!!!!
