hello.....

Wow! You guys are fast, LOL! I was just coming on to post my intro, but y'all beat me to it!
Well, I am very new to photography... I've only really been seriously interested in it for about a month now... but I have a rather- umm, extreme- personality, so when I do something, I do it BIG. I have a Nikon Coolpix 8700 that I sort of accidentally bought a few years ago, when I thought photography might be an interesting "hobby"... but the damn thing intimidated me so much that until now I have mostly kept it in "auto" mode, and stayed as far away from the owners manual as possible. Long story short, something inspired me to pick it up recently, and I pretty much haven't put it down since (I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about. I caught the bug). I've even- gasp!- read the manual!
Seriously, though, I'm taking an online course right now, and studying a lot through books, and just generally trying to learn as much as possible, and practice, practice, practice. I have three kids that are with me ALL the time, so I don't get as much time to shoot as I would like, but on the upside I have a steady supply of cute models. I love to share my shots with people, and look at other people's work, and of course I have lots of questions- so I am excited to find this forum!
Looking forward to getting to know you all better!

Nice to have an enthusiast on board, just looked at the map, boy you couldn't get much more central between coasts if you tried.
Thought OK was a miss spelt UK, and had no idea where enid was, until Oklahoma showed up in Autoroute.
Looking forward to seeing some of those images you mention

Welcome Blue, you're in good (?) company, I started by 'accident' and got bitten, great way to start. Enjoy and I look forward to seeing some shots. Keith.

best be quick than left behind...great to have you onboard. post some pics an lets see what floats your boat.
Blue
Ok, I'll throw some of my photos up on Fotki and post the link in the members website area. But BE WARNED: my pictures are nowhere near the caliber of the rest of yours. I have been looking over some of your work, and I am a trifle intimidated... a trifle embarrased to show mine... but I do look forward to getting good advice and criticism from the masters. Stay tuned for the link later today...
I'll also try to enter the landscape contest... not in any hopes of winning (I've seen the entries. WOW! You guys are GOOD!) ...but just for fun. (Yeah, as someone noticed, I am in the dead center of America... so my landscape will most likely be a wheatfield of some sort, LOL- not much else to shoot here )
Simonzphotoz
Just because the competition this month is a little hard doesn't mean you shouldn't take part, after all its that that counts. Don't be embarassed, show your work in all its glory and maybe we can all help you to improve.

errrr

DO NOT by any means feel intimidated - we all learn from each other - it's a great way to learn.
and Simons - sorry simon

One thing I must say I really like about the people here is the high level of participation in the comps, win or not. I find it very encouraging to see how many people stay involved
