Interesting shot, Lol thought the water at the bottom was mist till the old brain matter clicked in and remembered it's of Venice

Thanks for the comments, my sister wanted it to hang on her wall, and asked for it at A3 size!!!
She wouldn't listen to me that blowing it up to this size would not work (small file size) so did it for her, she now agrees that the photo at that size wasn't right so she then took it round to an artist friend of hers and has had it painted - can't wait to see the result. (hmmm thoughts about copyright come to mind)

If you want to check out copyright issues, it's called a derivative work. Basically, if you give your permission for an artist to reproduce your work, that's ok, and if that is for commercial gain, that's ok too, again with permission in writing, but commercially you would have some rights to royalties.
There is also use of photographs as reference material, reference photos are there only to provide information and inspiration and should not be copied.

thanks for that info Keith, greatly appreciated - not that I would consider charging my sister, but would be a bit peeved if artist decided to recreate in general

been playing with this image, although I chose a colour in the picture for the frame, not too sure about

Lovely photo! I was in Venice in 1973. Maybe it's time to go back...LOL
