been pondering over the Nikon d300, but not too sure if its a good upgrade option from d200 which I have. Staying with the dx format is my only option, and as I have all the lenses I need, so wondering if its worth spending my plastic on it or not...........

Well... you could give ME your D200 if that made life easier!

David, 2 things
1) does the D300 offer anything the D200 currently lets you down on?
and
2) are you likely to consider FX glass
(3 was to suggest that Sony A700 is a lot cheaper, with a couple of exceptions, all the best glass if FF too and we're nicer people with a-mounts!)

1 - there a number of things that give it an advantage - focus, liveview, faster among others
2 - fx glass, cannot see a need at the moment,
3 - would still have to get lenses to fit.
Feedback from other sources have indicated images are better, but not too sure in what way
cheers

Consider the D300 a 'lifestyle' upgrade over the D200 - it'll do everything better and may make your life a little easier. You'd notice a _massive_ increase in ISO quality; the D300 is said to have 2 stops over the D2Xs never mind the D200 but as Carl said, do take into consideration what you feel is lacking with the D200
