Thanks Chris, I was pretty pleased with this one, though it took several attempts to get the shot I was after.

Thanks Dave, I've been meaning to spend more time using manual focus, especially at f2.8, the AF just can't be relied upon to get it on the sweet spot. This one was only just. Hah, but I guess that's the point.
Gilly
Much prefer the second shot Keith.
The first one, my eyes keep getting drawn to the almost blown out petals of the bush, which is a pain, as the berries immediately behind are sharp and perfectly exposed.
Second one has great DoF - what were you using to capture these? It looks similar to the perfomance of the Canon 50mm 1.4.
(which incidentally I had to return this week due to the autofocus packing up )
Heh, heh, I'm working on my future skills Gilly. Sorry to hear about your lens, that's a bummer.
I think my Sigma 50mm 2.8 macro is my favourite lens, I haven't used it nearly enough, probably because I needed to spend more time using manual focus and I am lazy about stuff like that. It's a fab lens and great for stereo too.
Understand what you mean about the almost blown petals, hey ho.
