I'm afraid it was rather dead, of natural causes though, or at least not my doing.

wow that is close! what macro lense do you use?!

That was taken with a Sigma 50mm 1:2.8DG Macro lens with all three extension tubes on, 12, 20 and 36mm. When I am working that close I also put the camera in Exposure Delay Mode which flips the mirror up 1/40th second before the camera takes the picture to cut out extraneous movement. I also wanted a fair depth of field, nothing stupidly tight, hence the choice of f9.

Exposure time: 1/1.60
F-stop: 9.0
ISO speed: 100

o right, well i am sooo new to this, what exactly are extension tubes?

sorry for asking a silly question Confused

Oh, not a silly question, I didn't know what they were till last year.

u don't need a macro lens to use tubes - they'll reduce the minimum focus distance on any lens, even a telephoto ;)
mr_tone

o right well the longest zoom ive got is 200 but the focusing distnace is about a metre

might buy these first and see how close i can get

thanks for the advice Smile
