Racing Shots: catch-up (10 pics)

Bit out of date so here are a few pics to try and catch up, whilst upsetting our website monitoring software here at work into the bargain!

The last 3 are from saturday -ended up turning _down_ the iso for the last shot to get a bit more motion blur in there, seeing as I was having to pan everything due to the crappy weather anyway!!

It would be if i was lying there, yes ;) That shot along with 5&6 were all  taken using a remote trigger.

I'd bought a Nikon ML3 IR trigger earlier in the year but gave up on it after a few meetings as the line of sight thing was just not practical for what I wanted it for, so broke the bank and bought a pair of pocketwizards. They're far from cheap, but work extremely well and allow me to work the angles from a safe distance

Superb work, as ever, Jon, the remote enables some really startling shots and I love the shot of the dog.

Several very fine shots there Jon, but #3 is my favourite. Superb capture and sense of place with the steeple in the background Smilie_PDT

Jon - you have to got be enjoying yourself now, as its coming out in the images you are posting. The difference several pieces of kit have made is amazing.

Would agree about #3, it gives location to the image
GREENWIZARD

not a fan of action shots but these images are crystal clear well done

thanks for all the comments Smile

yes i am enjoying myself at the moment, working very hard at it but getting some pleasing results.

The spire was very intentional - i did it a few times during the day and one of them even made it in to the h&h. One thing I'm trying to see is the 'unmistakably <insert location here>' shot at every course - some are more obvious than others but I want to try and capture the individual nature of each meeting as they're all so different

I'm also trying to get 'into the eyes' of the jockeys now and again on the run-in - I've yet to get the shot i'm looking for but the expressions you can get are fantastic
