Calopteryx splendens - female banded demoiselle. One of the best shots I've managed in this hit and miss season, and now the demoiselle are at the end of their flight season, so won't see many more.
Still, I've bigger fish to fry, my darters are due out any day!

nicely done again Carl - believe it or not, but I have seen no dragonflies at all this year.

Not been a classic year by a long chalk, but have seen 4 spot chaser, blue tailed skimmer, southern hawker, brown hawker and emperor. Just not in any numbers
