new lens..hello all!!Birthday today!! 31...big boy now!!! got some cash from all areas of the family! and want to buy a new lens... I am going to Hong Kong and Beijing next Friday for 2 weeks and want a nice wide lens for the trip... i am looking at this one.. http://www.dpreview.com/news/0502/05021403sigma10-20dc.asp the Sigma 10-20mm F4.0-5.6 EX DC HSM... any one got one that can tell me about it.. or is there anything else that goes down to 10mm that anyone can recommend?!?! its for my Canon 350d! thanks Adam |

Hey Happy B'day m8,
I've got the Sigma 10 - 20 DC HSM and boy is it wide even on the 350D (16 - 32) Build and image quality are very good. Before I brought mine I read some reviews which said the 10 - 20 suffered from lens fringing at the 10mm end of the scale but not at the 20mm end. I've not noticed any on mine so not sure if people are been exceptionally picky or I'm just blind lol. Comes with it's own case and lens hood (petal type). Not sure what else I can say but if you have any questions just shout, Oh yeh don't know if you've had a Sigma lens before, but the 10 - 20 rotates in the opposite direction to Canon ones to zoom in and out bit confusing at the start (well it was for me  ).

believe it or not, i actually got it from Jessops..using their order online and pickup in store service..you get the internet price that way..which was all good..have to say, it worked well and i have nothing bad to say about them for a change!!! so after i got it i had a quick run round where i work to see what it can do... here are a few examples!!

to be honest, i am staying with friends in Hong Kong, who have broadband...there is every chance i will be online! just dont know if i can handle the abuse i get from you lot calling me sad cos i am on the forum while on holiday!!!!
