Needing that 3D touch.

This was an image I took today. It's one of those that don't make much sense really until you view it in 3D, it's a quality I want to develop more experience capturing. What do you think?

What I think is that I have a head-ache and my eyes are now permanently cross-eyed Smilie_PDT

It's amazing - in 3D the shiney bits are truly - shiney Smilie_PDT They glitter! That's something I never expected.
Even the detail of the imperfections of the casting seem to have enhanced depth and detail.

The 2D images simply don't do that. They now look terribly flat to me.

Wow - I have a new appreciation for these. If only we could get that kind of realism from normal photos.

Thanks - you have now utterly ruined my perceptions and expectations of any images I can possibly take with my camera Smilie_PDT

Great shot! Smilie_PDT

Uh, sorry about that John. Smilie_PDT

I am trying to develop my 'eye' to see this kind of shot, but it's a whole other way of looking for a picture. Just a nothing really until you view it as 3D.

It is odd the way the shiny bits come out, it gives them the depth they would have when seen with two eyes, which is what you're actually doing, which..... never mind.

Glad you liked it. Cheers!

That's an interesting thought. How does one develop the 'eye'? Experience I suppose. It sounds backward - we already see things in 3D, so why can't we envision what they will look like in 3D?

That's an interesting subject as well. I may have to talk with a friend of mine who is an imaging scientist specializing in interpreting how the human eye perceives things and translating that into how digital sensors translate that into images. I doubt I'll understand one percent of what he tells me, but it sounds like it could be a fascinating conversation study

I think probably because we are so accustomed to seeing in 3D we barely discern that we are, whereas when you see it in a picture like this it's like a revelation.

I would be very interested in hearing the bits that do make sense and which you retain. Very Happy
sean

The bracelet really pops out.

Very well done Mr Creators.

Thanks Sean, I wish I could say I didn't just get lucky, but I am hoping I'll get more experienced at close work. It's this sort of effect that I love.
