Little lady!

My friend brought round his gorgeous little daughter the other day so i could practice with my new studio lights...

what do you think?!?!

Evolution104

Very nice! I think I like the second one best - but personally, I think I'd prefer if her chin wasn't cut off. But very nice regardless.

The 3rd image is great! Really seems to capture her character.

I really like the last one also.

Well done, great shots Cool

Number 2 for me too, Adam!

having a great time with the lights...lots of fun..
I am doing two more sessions today, one with a 3 month old and another with a 2 week old!!!!

these friends of mine with kids are loving the free photo shoots!!!

Lovely shots Adam, I agree with John about the chin in 2. I also feel that 1 and 4 are less then their potential and stunning shots and would come out with some PS work and probably 3 as well. But I like all of them very much.

two and four, second the chin comment. number two is amazing. if you have cropped the chin in the actual shot, how bout you crop it some more?
adam

hi guys, thanks for the feedback....always more constructive than the biased parent who loved them all!!!!(good sign that they did tho)..

ok, so the chin....thats how it was shot unfortunatly, so i will go with simons advice and try and crop it a bit...

Creators, what would you suggest i did with them in PS? any tips?

its hard going with these portraits, i took about 200 shots, of which Paula and i decided to show the parents 30 of um...its hard going through so many shots and deciding what needs doing...
i want to start getting into this portrait thing, but i need to try and keep the post work down to a sensible time, otherwise its not going to be worth my time...
i spend 4 hours last night sorting through these...
shooting RAW really slows you down!!!

so, any tips on quick PS techniques and workflow ideas would be grand!!!

thanks again chaps...

I did have a play with the crop, but didn't turn out how i expected, i can post it if you like, its a shame cos the chin is kinda important. as for quick flow work, do you open them all in cs2 or do you use bridge?

Try shooting RAW with jpeg, if you have that setting on your camera, that way, you can quick scan the jpegs, and sort wheat from chaff

I tried a couple of things but this was the best i could come up with. I essence the great shot is there, its just the chin, so I went for the extreme crop.

And then it struck me.

No 2, that's the one! Nice one Simon.

I've done a couple of processed shots, one in PSP and the other in PS. See what you think.

Simonzphotoz

cheers keef, number two of yours to me thinks.

you still on msn??
adam

Simon, Keith...cracking stuff..thanks guys...

Simon, that second crop is great..love it...i will see what the parents think!

and i think i prefer Keiths first effort as it goes....
i will see if i can do something in PS to match it..

thanks for the advice guys...much appreciated...

Well slap me with a splintered ruler, those pics have been on Ringo for an hour or so and someone has put a comment on them. 'beautiful child –Dori'. I think I am going to have to create an 'Others photos' section, but thought you'd like to see the comment Adam.
adam

oh !! she is a gorgeous girl...makes life easier for the photographer!
thanks for sharing Keith...
