Spent a few minutes at the end of the runway at RAF Valley this lunchtime. Put that big lens on, camera was on continuous AF and 1/800s, don't ask about iso, well ok it was 320 as I forgot to change it.
The lens is heavy and I am not sure that it focuses as fast as it needed to (had it on group dynamic in wide frame mode - sorry think this might be Nikon speak-). These were the 2 best I got in the time I had.
Moral - more practice is needed, and some weight training!!!

And thanks for sharing, just really wish I'd been there with you. I used to plane spot at Heathrow as a kid and loved it. I wasn't really interested in their numbers, just loved the feel of the place, the noise and the planes. look forward to more.
