Is this the future of photography?

Photosynth, a new technology from Microsoft Live Labs that takes a large collection of photos of a place or an object, analyses them for similarities, and displays them in a reconstructed three-dimensional space.

Apparently all of the images on this demonstration were sourced from Flickr and then the program joins them together and allows 3D modelling and almost infinite zooming.
