Hello from the newbie. I am going to enter some of these on-line competitions for fun. If I can work out how to do that that is Confused
Not very technically minded! If someboyd can design an idiots guide that wouild be great Smile
I've just had three of my photos accepted by a local art gallery and I was really surprised when they liked them. Its the first time I have ever applied to an art gallery Smile They advised to get opinions from lots of people not just them so I see the competition as a good opportunity to do that. Cool

Posting pictures is really easy, do you use flickr or photobucket or another on line hosting site?

If you look in the Monthly comps section you'll see this month is Sport, and it's however you interpret the theme.

If you need any help posting just give me a shout or contact a moderator and we'll be happy to assist.

I don;t use any of those website. I do have a lomohome on the www.lomography.com website so I think I might be able to upload from there. Just uploaded my avator - thats clever for me! Getting there slowly. Thanks for your offers of help.

Just had a quick look there and not sure you'll be able to link a picture. Do you get a link for you picture after you've uploaded it?
What you do is click the img button then paste the link (no spaces) then click the img button again. Click the preview button and your image should be there.

Ive been looking at quite a few of the photos uploaded here and I must say they are pretty impressive. As a beginner I am in awe of all the skills and talent on here.
Looks like I will need to do something with flickr because as Mike pointed out I dont think there is a way of putting in a link to lomo to upload my photos here.
Meanwhile if anyone wants to look at some of my stuff its uploaded to www.lomography.com and then if you search on the lomohomes look for stormchaser. (click above the photo into the grey area that says Home of the Day. It will bring you to another page where you can search for lomohomes. Just type in stormchaser and you will be taken to my home.) That's me!
I have quite a few albums on there - although I have been doing some spring cleaning of my lomohome.

Hey there, just had a quick look through some of your albums. I really like some of the shots in the brugge album, and also that close-up of the white peacock in the zooniverse. Looks like you get to travel to some really lovely places! (jealous here, LOL) Very Happy

thank for your coments Smile Went to Brugge twice for long weekend - brilliant place. I've been going to Switzerland for holidays - fabulous place - if I win the lottery thats where I'd like to be!
If I can work out how to put my pics on here that would be good. I've just set up an account on flickr but I dont know what to do now!
I'm probably going to win competition for the most computer illiterate person on this forum Embarassed lol.

Sorry but I think I'm going to win the competition for the most computer illiterate person on this website! i've created an account on flickr but I'm having real trouble trying to upload my photos from there. I have pasted in the link like this to the feedback on photos page - not the competition page

You have the right idea about the [img] button- you are doing that part just right- but it's not the website's http address that you want to put in between. Do this: click on the picture you want to upload. Then, when it opens up, there is a section to the right of the photo that says "additional information." In this section, in blue writing, you will see "See additional sizes." Click that. Now, under the photo you will see a box that says "2. Grab the photo's URL." Copy and paste "that" http address between the [img] symbols.

I hope that helps. Keep on asking, if you still can't get it.

Got it! Its the jelly fish section of the sea-life centre in Blackpool. Sometimes I shake the camera around to see what the effects will be! Anti-shake on cameras - I switch it off! lol!

okay I give up! i don't know why my pictures keep disappearing. they are defintately uploaded to flickr. I have edited the posts to make sure I have got the right stuff on. Weird thing is that 2 that I posted here last night are still on but the others have dissapeared. Some appeared back tonight after editing but the one in the hello section refuses to come back! Thanks to moderators for all their help and patience and for everyone who gave me such a warm welcome. I think the easiest thing to do is give up with flickr before I have nervous breakdown. Bye everyone.

I use Photobucket and if I can use it, anyone can! I've enjoyed the photos you've posted so don't give up yet - I'm sure you can find a way around it. Have another bash at it with a different image hosting site.

I'm back and I deserve my name!

Yep I am a right flapjack! I think I've finally worked out how to use flickr now. Thanks to the moderators for all their help and kindness - really appreciate it. And thanks to everyone for their kind messages encouraging me not to give up. I've got an ECDL qualification in I.T. and everyone comes to me for help with formulas in spreadsheets and mailmerge - so being defeated by flickr was a bit frustrating! I think I was so embarrased and annoyed with myself that I couldnt work it out! Not had much chance to play with my new camera due to weather etc. best wishes to everyone xxx
