I'm John. Mike (venom) and Jon (jonH) have coerced me into joining up 
Just kidding! 
Anyway, I'm in New York state USA (no where near New York City - sorry! I'm a lot closer to Toronto!).
I currently shoot with an Olympus E-500. I have the kit lenses and I also purchased the Zuiko 35mm macro. I also have an Olympus OM-1, but I must confess that it doesn't get much use - as in none in the last few years.
I prefer nature and landscape photography, but will shoot whatever inspires me.
I've been taking pictures since I was... 8 years old maybe?
I work for a major global imaging company - 22 years in the Research Labs and the last 7 as a senior software engineer writing software for dye sublimation photo printers.
I'm the admin for 5 web forums, most of them automotive related. But I do plan to put together my own web gallery to share my photography, hopefully in the next six months.
The photography bug has recently bit me again. I have a renewed interest in taking pictures - no not really - I have a renewed interest in taking exceptional pictures - since I obtained my E-500.
My goal is not to take snap shots, but professional quality images. I have much to learn.

Thanks for the welcome!
So far I like what I see - an active board with people both knowledgeable and interested in photography.
The board I usually hang out on is a mix of photo enthusiasts and digital arts people (think photoshop manipulation and digital drawing). Traffic on that site is spotty and the photography segment lacks the knowledge and experience.

Ha Ha it's something I'm trying to do as i get to know people and as people tell us more about themselves  .
But I have done requests, if you would like to add something for someone or yourself (keep it clean)
