A wonderful place, that resulted in my first ever photography prize win!
Floodplain, on the River Sow, 300 acres of reserve, no more than 5 mins walk from the town centre!
And yesterday was a floodplain. Water up to 8 inches on parts of the path, with a current to keep you 1) wet and 2) treading very carefully! Worth it though!
Dry land at a premium meant the hide was closer to the birds. And they didn't care who they shared it with!

I've been thinking more and more lately that I'd like to spend some time sitting in a hide or something, just settle with my camera and see what comes along. I tend to shoot on the move, and there's another world out there. Great shots Carl, and your winner is exactly that.l

Yes I think we have to much freedom when it comes to photography.We get our cams and shoot on the go which is probably why we end up with lots of snap shots.I read in DP that we should take away the freedom then pick one subject and spend a few hours filling or cf cards with lots of shots of the one subject from different view points and with diffrent settings.

I do tend to travel around, but sometimes, its better to just sit and watch what's going on outside. The hide is very therapeutic.
However, little award winning Sedge Warbler was sitting adjacent to the path at the entrance to the reserve, seemingly oblivious to the people around!
