Corbyn (Grandson) and me

quick experiment with flash (see the tips section) now I have my background.

These are virtually as taken from camera, only adjustments being WB setting and sharpening plus crop.

ISO 200
1/125s
f4.5 - kit lens!!!

Camera was set up up with SB800 speedlight directed at 60 degrees back over my head - no diffuser fitted - never even thought about that until I saw the website tips - some great wedding images on there btw - I digress)

Thanks Adam - when reading the ideas on that website - he was indicating that the flash is used to enhance the available light (light coming in from the window was behind me but was not sufficient not to use flash) and I have to admit the technique works.

I see you tried it out with the hands in, as you mentioned you might! Smile Cool! Your grandson is really cute. Smile I think the lighting worked out great, too... although the backdrop could maybe be less lit... maybe try sitting further away from it?
I really like the idea you had of Corbyn looking up in the first one. I think, for me, it would have worked a little better if the camera had been just a smidge higher- a little more eyes, a little less nostril. But still really well done- I can tell you two were having fun together. icescream

Thats one of the drawbacks of flash - especially when the batteries are a liitle drained - and camera on tripod - he was actually controlling the poses!

I can also see what you mean about the backdrop - thanks
