Since buying the 5D I've noticed I'm short on length
So I'm wandering about a converter for my 70-200 F4L lens. The only thing that worries me is:
Will I loose any image quality and also will I still be able to use AF or will it make it MF only?
Not sure if there would be a difference for the above between the 1.4x and the 2x converters.
Any help appreciated

yes there probably will be a difference- the image will be of much better qual from the 1.4 but whether that extends the reach enough for you or not is another matter.
details for each individual tc will inform you as to what you'll lose, most decent ones will allow you to keep af on modern mounts. looks like the canon ones will retain af on lenses with an aperture of f/4 or better - so you're ok.
nikon do a 1.7 which obviously doesn't help you, but offers a nice balance between iq and reach (i'll be buying one as soon as the d2x is paid for!)
