This is really great, gw- nice job.
I wish the highlights weren't so completely blown on the silver, though... I find it a little distracting. But you've taken a really ordinary subject and made a powerful statement. It's wonderful.

The ones that are bothering me are the tines of the fork- but that's just me being nit-picky (hey, someone's gotta do it, LOL. That's what a critique forum is for, right?). It is by all accounts a stellar image, though. There's something really special about it.
You have a great knack for finding beauty in the ordinary, gw.

always remember that the eye also sees blown highlights and not just cameras - it is what you will sometimes see naturally

Just makes them look metallic to me - quite normal to see extreme highlights on polished steel
