a simple rose

 I know it isn't perfect but I am sure proud of this one I took..lol:)

Hi Jan,
Lovely colours. The light is nice too, making the colours pop.

But I think the focus might be off a bit. Perhaps the camera was a little too near the subject for the auto focus to lock on?

If you look closely, the leaf at the bottom behind the rose is nearly in focus. I'd guess the camera was about 2-3 inches closer than its minimum auto focus range.

A potential stunner though Laughing

Smile I knew someone would say that...lol I will try to fix but I do know what I did wrong when I first saw it come up..I still love to look at it for some reason even with all the imperfections.. Thanks for the comment John Smile Smile

Well, you know, this image can go two ways - more in focus, which is expected, or soft focus for a romantic look.

Normally soft focus starts with a subject that's in focus, but maybe this one can be successfully 'played' with.

With your permission, I'd like to see what effect can be acheived and post it?

Soft focus can be a bit of a pita to get right and is a skill I'm lacking at the moment... does anyone have any tips??

I like waht has gone here and the improvements to the original from you both.

Have never really tried that soft focus effect, but from what I can see its well worth experimenting with, especially if it can save an image from the bin
