Hi guys'n'girls,

sensor cleaning...... have you done it or have you sent your baby off to be cleaned professionally?

I've been using a can of CleanAir and a Rocket Blower to remove dust from inside the body, which works well, but still have some specs on the sensor itself. [ The guys at Calumet showed me throw a light loupe ]

I took my body into Calumet and they charge 35UKP to clean the sensor. Which I don't have an issue with, but the cost of 12 swabs* and a bottle of cleaner costs the same as 2 visits to Calumet.

* Based on the 1.6x swabs from
VisibelDust.com

What are your views on this, DIY or take it to a Pro?

not had to do any major cleaning to any dslr i have had - d70, d200 and d300, even though i bought a sensor cleaning kit some 5 years ago!!!

only ever used my rocket blower.

Always try to change lenses - and its regular - with camera facing down.

I am sure the day will come when its needed, and i will tackle diy route

Dave
