This is a the sort of nonsense I get up to when I just don't know what to do with myself. This has taken a good few hours of fiddling about to put together. I quite liked the idea of pictures presented in a different way, we can frame them, create triptychs and so on, but it's nice to explore a new idea. The blurb is just stuff from my flickr profile to fill space. Frustratingly, PSP doesn't justify text and I didn't think to check Photoshop, so I did the text in Word and pasted in screen shots, which was a little laborious to say the least.
I had forgotten all about PNG format and the ability to have transparent backgrounds, and gifs never had the same quality. There's a whole world of shapes to be explored....
It is a shame Web browsers do not handle TIFF files. _________________ --

Why is that Pete? PNG is lossless and offers transparency.
Historically, not everything supported PNG.
JPEG became the standard for web use. _________________ --

Is that still the case? I've never used anything but JPEG and GIF for the web, so know nothing about the situation. I'm certainly impressed with the ability to use PNG. _________________

Nice! Though I do find it hard to look at on an Apple Display _________________ --

Thanks Pete, is the problem because of the PNG format. I don't know enough about it.
I think it's more to do with the resolution I am using [2560x1600] where as at home [1600x1280] it looks fine. _________________ --

Thanks Dave, very helpful. I'm in the middle of a format crisis, and am looking hard at PNG.
I have bought the upgrade to PSP PhotoX2 Ultimate and whilst it is less clunky than X2 and has some very fine features, they have reduced support for PSD, which is my preferred format. I can no longer save layers in PSD format. Their own format, pspimage, is ok if I really want to save layers and vectors, but is not in least cross platform and basically a pain in the ass and Thumbs plus, although offering thumbnails and reduced images, is not happy with it.
Although PNG doesn't save in layers, it is lossless, produces smaller file sizes than PSD, offers RGBa and the ability to use transparency far superior to GIF.
Right now though my computer is becoming a mess of formats and I am not happy. _________________
