I've never used macro lenses - do you use them with a general lens, or a macro, or either?
Thanks BA Fly!! That shot is up there with some of the best shots I think I have taken, so thanks for commenting
In terms of the macro 'lens' - I have a set of Kenco extension rings

which couple up to the camera, between body and lens. They effectively move the lens away from the sensor, enlarging the image seen on the sensor. I haven't had much luck with them, as less light gets to the sensor when using them, and DoF seems to be exaggerated when they are used, so I was pleased to see these results when coupled with a diffused flash......
Once I have a chance I'll post up some more shots using this set up, including spiders webs and water droplets. Just got to find me some time now _________________ Bring on the snow, for I feel the need to ride.....
DOF is reduced irrespective of how you do your closeups. _________________ There is nothing in life that cannot be improved with either monkeys, pirates or ninjas NPU Member
#2 is fantastic, really like the DOF and the lustre of the flower. _________________ --
